The Opiate Task Force has accomplished many of its goals. A summary:
Prevention efforts

  • Development of Opiate Abuse Fact Sheet to educate public
  • Development of Opiate Overdose Risk Factor wallet card to educate public about signs of overdose and what to do to assist the person    
  • Involvement in Clermont Chamber education efforts
  • Community presentations and town halls 
  • Implementation of school-based drug prevention programming
  • EPB in schools
  • Various educational campaigns (billboards, CTC bus decals, movie theaters, flyers, PSAs, letters
    ​to editors)
  • Website with one-stop information 
  • Quick Response Teams (QRT) partnerships with local law enforcement and fire/emt
  • Community based Recovery Coaches in agencies help people get into treatment

Treatment efforts

  • Increase in access to treatment, including Medication Assisted Treatment  
  • Access to recovery housing
  • Development of countywide Resource Guide 
  • Improved awareness of services through hotline: 528-SAVE (7283)

Demand and availability efforts

  • Promotion of federal prescription drug drop-off events
  • Promotion of Monitor, Secure and Dispose Campaign
  • Promotion of permanent prescription drug drop-off boxes
  • Promotion of Narcotics Hotline: 513.625.2806

Harm reduction efforts

  • Increased awareness of opiate addiction as a community health concern
  • Access to Narcan kits for the community
  • Access to Narcan for first responders
  • Prevention coordinator hired at Clermont Public Health to focus on unintentional
    opiate overdose deaths
